Diseases of the Ear

The ear has two basic functions: hearing and helping maintain body balance. Hence, we can understand why most ear disorder symptoms have to do with hearing loss, ringing in the ears and vertigo incidents. At the same time, the ear is a considerable part of the lateral base of the skull, while important anatomical elements such as the jugular vein, the carotid and the facial nerve pass through ear anatomical boundaries.

Thus, it is easy to understand that ear disease symptoms should not be underestimated and that timely diagnosis and treatment of these are very important.

The ear is located in the temporal bone. This bone has the most complicated anatomy in the human body and hosts the stapes which is the smallest bone of the human body.
